Premium Shielded VGA-to-SCART Cable for FPGA Systems
Unlock the true retro gaming experience by connecting your FPGA setup to a 15 kHz TV / CRT monitor — just like the original hardware intended. Compatible with Official MiSTer, clones, ZX Next / NGO and Analogue.
Features:
- Precision-engineered for 15 kHz RGB video output
- Built-in 470Ω resistor on the sync line for signal protection, safe and reliable operation.
- Italian brand, Fully shielded cable to reduce interference and noise
Important: This SCART cable is designed for MiSTer FPGA. It can be used with other FPGA systems, but at the user’s own risk.
Tested and Compatible with:
- MiSTer FPGA A/V Pro v9.2
- MiSTer Multisystem
- MiSTer Pi (Clone)
- MiSTer QMTech (Clone)
- MiSTer Jammix FPGA
- xtremeMiSTer
- Analogue FPGA with DAC
- Analogue FPGA with Analogizer
- ZX Spectrum Next (KS1/2/3) / N-GO
Specifications:
- Connector A: 15-pin D-sub (MiSTer VGA video output)
- Connector B: EuroSCART (CRT TV video input
- Connector C: 3.5mm stereo jack (MiSTer audio input)
- Cable Length: 1.6 meters (default)
- Color: Black
- Sync Signal: VGA pin 13 is connected to SCART pin 20 through a 470Ω resistor
- RGB Switching: VGA pin 14 is connected directly to SCART pin 16 (1.6V or less, no attenuation required)
- Compatibility: Works with MiSTer I/O board set to either default or 5V configuration
Configuration for MiSTer FPGA:
To enable 15 kHz RGB output via SCART, you need to update the mister.ini configuration file.
We strongly recommend backing up your existing mister.ini before applying this changes:
- forced_scandoubler = 0
- composite_sync = 1
- vga_scaler = 0
- direct_video = 0 *
* This option should be set to 1 (enabled) only when using HDMI-to-VGA DAC dongles with Direct Video. If enabled without a DAC, it may result in incorrect colors.
Note: The Scandoubler setting in the OSD menu (accessed with F12) should be set to OFF for all cores.
Configuration for Analogue DAC:
-
When using this cable with the Analogue DAC, please ensure that the firmware is up to date and that “RGB Composite Sync” is enabled in the Advanced Settings.
Configuration for ZX Spectrum NEXT / N-GO
-
When using this cable with the ZX Spectrum NEXT, stay pressing key “R” during the boot to set the 15 kHz RGB mode.
